A Girl’s Best Wingman?
So this week I am dog-sitting! Gunter the Sausage Dog has become the first male to share my king-sized bed with me in the new flat. Yes, I know that's slightly depressing … but at least he's more than happy to snuggle! (Though in reality, when I say ‘share', what I actually mean is 4/5ths of the bed is currently his!)
While Gunter's owners are off on holiday, Gunter is helping me work out if I can fit a puppy into my rather hectic life full-time (something I've wanted to do for years, but that's only now a possibility, as I'm Read More
A Lesson in Honesty – The Funniest Tinder Tale I’ve Ever Heard!
When you write about dating, unsurprisingly people want to talk to you about dating. And the thing about dating, is that most people have one or two stories of their own to tell!
As I mentioned yesterday, I was at a house party at the weekend. One of the boys hosting the party was introducing me to his neighbours, and mentioned that I'm a dating blogger.
“Oh my god! You have to hear her story!” one of the girls replied immediately. “Come on, tell her your Tinder story!”
Now, normally when someone says that, I don't expect to be Read More
Friend Today, Gone Tomorrow
Like most bloggers, I often treat this site like a personal diary. I was a journal keeper from the age of 14 to 26, and so it's no real surprise that often I'll come home, and before heading to bed feel the need to type. Writing and talking about stuff have always been my outlets. The way I process the lessons I've learned that day, or try to cope with painful realities. I look back on the words I wrote for both Mum and Dad's funerals, for example, and eleven years on it's like I'm back Read More
Contently Single? … Apparently Not!
The oddest thing about being single is other peoples' reactions. Once you reach a certain age, particularly if you're female, people assume that your single status is something of a problem. A temporary situation you're hoping to fix … and quickly.
No matter how often it's suggested, I still find it funny when people assume I want to remove my single status at all costs. No, I don't plan on being single forever, but as I've said many a time on the blog, I'd much rather be single than with the wrong person.
There's a certain type of person, Read More
London Date Ideas – The Folly, TED & The Jugged Hare
Every week on 30 Dates I share some of the places I've discovered in London with you – in case you need a date idea.
The Folly
This week I visited the sister restaurant of The Anthologist and Happenstance, where I've dined in recent weeks. Like the other restaurants the decor is unique and eye-catching – we sat beneath an entire wall covered in plates. All three restaurants share the same menu, however it's clear everything is prepared on site as things like the babaganoush in the starter platters tasted completely different at all three restaurants.
