Echopraxia: Not Just A Science Fiction Novel
Is is very rare that a book can truly be thought-provoking these days, especially works of fiction in an age of consumerism, materialism, and pop culture. It's even rarer that I count down the days until the book is released. On August 26, 2014 Peter Watts released Echopraxia, the sequel to Blindsight. Echopraxia is a continuation of the story of humanity's reaction to an ambiguous but very direct Read More

Why Are We So Hung Up On Sex?
If you separate out the functions of sex, you get a much clearer picture. The primary function is making babies, but since we now understand the mechanical and biological aspects and women highly fertile when compared to most other animals that can only reproduce once a year, this function is something we can set aside. Babies are a lot of trouble, expensive in the long run, and require careful consideration and planning.
So what other functions does sex serve?
We could say that in the human realm, sex is a low cost, easily accessible: entertainment, pastime, sport, exercise, and relaxation. Few Read More
